• Your budget price range for adding an air conditioner to your gas/propane furnace is between $14,000 and $25,000. If you replace an existing air conditioning system and have electrical wiring in place, it could be less.  If you upgrade to adding a new heat pump to the gas/propane furnace it could go up to $30,000.
• The biggest factor in price is size and the unit efficiency, large homes with higher efficient systems will easily be over $20,000.
• Other factors that affect price are: unit location (distance from furnace and electrical panel); indoor coil access and condensate system; electrical requirements to the outdoor unit; if the gas/propane furnace needs replacing also; extended warranty; and proper ducting to ensure cool air gets to where it needs to be.
